The Tory Prime Minister has said Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership may be over.

The leadership contest is one of the biggest challenges for Jeremy Corbyn. He faced backlash on Friday after criticising the leadership of the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Corbyn said the Liberal Democrats had an unfair advantage… because we are a party of austerity.

He also criticised unprecedented cuts to pensions and other vital benefits.

His speech was the first political speech made by any leader since he began his leadership quest six months ago.

Mr Cameron told ITV’s This Morning Show that he thought his own party had a great opportunity in challenging the opposition, but also making our voices heard.

If this happens today, the election goes ahead, he said, with Mr Corbyn facing the kind of shock and the fury that has engulfed the Liberal Democrats and its left wing party in recent days and weeks.

‘Corbyn’s victory will come with its costs’

Former shadow Foreign Secretary Lord Lawson said it was devastating that Mr Corbyn had come into power at a time of crisis for Labour.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme The election was about, I think, the last year or two and I think Corbyn’s performance is going to come with its costs.

His defeat will come with its costs. And so I’m very disappointed that he’s not here to say his name at this stage.

The Labour leader said he did not think the Lib Dems were being taken too lightly, but added he expected the party would continue to be fair when it comes to tax and spending.

Speaking to Jeremy Vine, Mr Cameron said I was very pleased when I ran the Labour government. I’m not sure what you would expect of an opposition leader, that you would expect, where the opposition is being taken lightly or you would hope that one day you will take the issue seriously.
