Why did you make your first book

I wanted to write something that I thought would be interesting to read to students. My parents had done the coloring on my first book, and they had a little more interest than I was and they wanted to know what I liked and what I disliked. When I would read my first book, I would write what I liked and what I disliked. That book didn’t go into print long before college.

Are there any other books you’ve ever done or are planning to do that’s really personal to you

The things from my childhood that came after are the books. I also learned from my mom how to make a book that looked and felt nice with every step. Every step is something that I make on my own. It was really fun to write it with a pencil or a mouse.

Why did you pick to represent a man on the cover of A New Hope

I’d like to represent both a woman and a man, which are pretty important. It’s a kind of a parallel to me drawing for things like Star Wars and Star Trek, where there’s some conflict between man and woman and a man and a woman and a man and a man. So for me, this is really kind of a parallel with Star Wars The Force Awakens.

How do you think about what your readers think Do they love your books Have their stories resonated with you

It’s very important to me to write for readers. It’s about a person, about what they want to be, about who they want to be. It’s really cool to have those two things, and these books are about human relationships that take place in our real world and where our lives take place. They’re about what our people feel right now. They’re about where we are as a group or what our culture has gone through. And it’s a good way to show that you’re trying to find what’s right for yourself.

How do you make your readers feel when you write your stories

They can start with reading them and then go into writing. Then they start to write about the people in their lives.

What do the books tell your readers about you as a writer

The ones that are actually quite personal are the ones that are written to them at a young age. In
