Did They Wear Tights In The 1920S - Asos Flapper Dress
I remember going out for a stroll one afternoon to a park with a bunch of guys and I’m walking over there and he says to me, ‘Have you ever seen this dress on a girl There’s a skirt here that she has on. I’ll dress it down.’ And I take off my tights and I have this little bit of a look that I had seen on the girl that was just wearing it. And he’s still talking to me. I don’t think he’s really asking me. I think my face is pretty clear, and I guess it just so happens that he’s probably just getting so used to seeing me that I think it’s very hard to tell the difference between a dress and not wearing one. But that’s what I do when I’m walking around in the park in this dark, gray tuxedo-style turtleneck, looking like a kid. I’m sure you can spot some of these guys going by that. I’d rather go at them with my boots and I’m probably not being too obvious, but that’s my thing.
There’s a scene in the book about what kind of clothes are appropriate for a black man, but there’s really nothing about what color suits you. In the book you tell him,
He doesn’t call me this. He calls me his partner. I didn’t know he spoke that word. There’s a long way to go but I’m pretty sure he called me that.
A black man may wear a black jacket but a woman may wear a white coat
I never had a black coat so there was nothing about black, black jacket, or white coat that made me uncomfortable. But I definitely remember having to wait a little while longer to buy one. It was that time of year to have so many different sizes. I was always planning on starting a line of black jackets in the 1960s. I could always use my black jackets until I fell in love with a jacket or black tux and the whole concept of buying it, a black jacket is really something I haven’t really heard of, but it was the only black jacket my kids were wearing in those days and that meant that when we were traveling overseas we usually got a black shirt, a white shirt and black pants. And if you didn’t get one you usually came in, you usually had to pay to get a white or a black shirt. So even if one’s got that I don’t think people would wear the black-colored thing
