The government claims that China is the world’s largest consumer importer, with the largest number of imports coming from China. The figures are based on 2013 data and show that while the Chinese produce is on the increase, imports fall by roughly half from 2013, the majority came from South Korea. The exports account for about 75 percent of the volume of goods shipped to, processed and shipped by China for the last three years from the U.S. and South Korea.
Although there are likely to be substantial declines due to falling export rates to Japan and Korea, these fall in shipments are expected to cause significant cost savings as China is still the world’s largest consumer importer of household goods, with its exports declining by about 21 ratio since last year. This means that China has a competitive advantage over most major Western consumers as well as its rivals.
