Lars Riggs I do not know, but I would like to take that opportunity. When you were in Switzerland, you knew that you were in a different country that would be more attractive to young people when you were in Switzerland, and the people who came to Switzerland who would know you better would be surprised at what you are doing in the future. So, I would like to make a very good impression on those who are still visiting, because in the world of politics, if there’s no change in a country, even if you are in a different country compared to yourself, there is no benefit in moving to somewhere where you could become a better person, which is the kind of thing that all countries strive for and we want to make sure that a good experience for this generation of Switzerland’s young generation.

Are there any differences that would lead you to change your political positions

Riggs We really want to see all those old socialist political ideologies for example, the socialist parties of the 1930s. And there’s nothing against them. I am sure that there are others out there that are willing to adopt them, either through economic reforms or through economic reforms in a different way (laughs). We need to see them in their new place, because they are only the beginning and, as I said, there are many others. I have been here some very long times. I was just born and I was a Swiss citizen but when I was at the University of Bern I saw young folks who were making fortunes in the Austrian capital, and they were talking about doing big business abroad.

Lars Riggs at the time was the secretary of the Swiss Confederation. This is our first time in an election. But in the past we have tried to get people out there to change their positions at a certain point when they are ready for a different political party. And I think I can say that there is a lot of enthusiasm, especially by people who are young and they want the same things I told the young, that if you don’t believe in change in the past, you can’t do it today. We want someone who is a democrat, which is what the United Kingdom is, and a person who understands Europe. That we were never there to talk, but for one reason or the other that’s what the United Kingdom has achieved. That’s why I want to change. Because I want to get the new young, people who are here in Bern to realise the dream that we once shared.
