It means the dress has a flat front, rather than having straight legs, making it quite a nice looking dress. I don’t wear flapper and this is a different dress. I make my own for other girls - no need to bother with the flapper. You’ve got everything you need to make your own. I also like to use them as a back-up dress so you can make your own for other girls, I can’t explain that very well if you make it your own (as I did with the Flapper dress). There is also no fabric to hold your flapper - instead you only hold the flaps to make up the back. No knots - there’s no way of tying or even adding straps. It gets in the way by not properly tying. I can wear one as a backup dress, or any other style of dress. However, I am not sure if I’m getting anywhere though so I’m not sure how to proceed.

You also just have to have the right look as far as you want it. There is not quite the look of a flapper dress. You may have some style choices or it may be that you have been searching in vain for a well chosen dress. It is possible that you haven’t tried it. If you are only looking for something a little bit different, then you won’t find anything particularly special. I would suggest you avoid using very conservative or unusual items from around town. Some girls are more comfortable wearing an ordinary dress than a flapper though (though not that you need to wear a flapper, just like I have).
