After having their initial conversations with Ford and GM, the Detroit City Council passed a resolution supporting the 1.2 billion project by one to one.
And that’s according to representatives for Ford’s American Trucking Association, who have met with Council members on the topic through their meeting with city officials Saturday.
One councilmember, Councilman Tim Burgess (D-Bell Gardens), also supported the proposed 1.2 billion.

We have a lot to learn from them, but our view is that with these proposals, we should be looking over each of them carefully, both before making the decision and then in the end, making it a decision that we take seriously, Burgess said.
Ford Motor Co. chief executive Mark Fields and his staff are working on the full project, which is intended to build 150,000 new jobs.
It is the most expensive public transit project in Detroit history, with annual average costs exceeding 500,000, but Fields said the city has a choice between paying big bucks for a project and trying to make the project more affordable for families.
The project is the latest by Ford to hit the council after a similar move last month. The team led by chief of staff Andy Slavitt helped build several existing facilities, including a massive two-story bus station. Its proposed 4,000-gallon tank-tank plant is on the market for 60 million.
The council and the public has raised some concerns, including the use of asbestos and mold on parts of the vehicles, as well as issues of possible pollution and maintenance issues.
The Ford trucking association said the new plant will not cause incident on the road, or any collision caused by trucks that are in the wrong lane with other vehicles on the roadway.
