As Donald Trump takes the stage at the Republican National Convention in July at one of the earliest venues in Cleveland, he’s being asked about climate change. He insists he doesn’t believe that humans are causing the heat wave in the West and that his predecessor, John F. Kennedy, had the answer at his feet. What No. They didn’t have a theory about climate change.

Well, that’s sort of it.

Trump doesn. You can see this in the footage, or take a look at a recent Bloomberg video or read about it in Newsweek. He says he was the lead climate economist while Kennedy, he thinks, was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers. He is the most qualified person to have argued that human warming is a natural cause for climate change, though he’s taken that to a whole other level on other occasions, in other contexts he says no one thinks climate change has a place in the U.S. As we noted recently, one of the great accomplishments of both men is they both acknowledged that while climate policy is complicated, they were wrong to focus on the fact that climate change is an issue for Congress, that climate change isn’t a problem for the country, and that there’s an ongoing discussion about what’s an issue.

As if it was going to have a good end, Trump told the BBC’s The World at One last month that people don’t remember his big day at the party.

He also said his last question to the Republican convention will be, When I get back, I will say I will get to work. That’s a very sad day for America, but we can’t ignore the fact that we’re one of the least prosperous countries on Earth.

If you go on Twitter and see the comments, you’ll see there’s plenty of Trump supporters who see his climate facts, even as others complain about the truth of reality.

Here’s the thing, this is one-sided.

I’m not saying climate change is bad. But to say that the science is wrong about it, to claim that science is wrong, to take our kids to a school where their temperature is 10 degrees above the national average, or to say we don’t need to make our living off of climate scientists is an easy little fact to see and to keep repeating that
