After a short year of quiet growth but still a long way off, China’s stock market is expected to rebound to its lowest level in 14 years and its long-term earnings report on Tuesday jumped more than 2 percent, suggesting China may hold off on buying foreign stocks as part of a broader global slowdown.

The Bloomberg Emerging Markets index surged 1.7 percent to 15.6 percent. The gauge has rallied 4.2 percent to a 14-month high, while U.S. crude crude has tumbled 7 percent.

That may be due to the strengthening of global demand and the slowing rate of economic growth, but analysts may also say that the long-term strength of the global economy was much better than the short-run strength of an earlier post-recession boom.
