I don’t know if I can be, but I have a bad habit of thinking that I will die before I’m really ready. It was very discouraging for me at the beginning. But I think some of the people who say that to me are simply talking nonsense.

Gangnam Style’s Chocolate Muffin was featured on TBS after it aired in May, a month before the movie’s opening night and at an event that night at the Los Angeles International Film Festival. What is your process for preparing for the movie

To start with it has been really challenging and it’s been quite exciting. To make the movie was probably not the easiest thing to do. But what I remember is that I was told, in interviews in the ’80s, that I might have to learn all of the fundamentals and I might never get accepted again. So what I was told was just to come along and see how that would look. I said, ‘Well, there’s nothing wrong with learning. Just practice.’ That was the first time I would go through a whole series of these interviews without learning them, but I felt like they were really important. I remember, it was pretty much my first real audition with an actor for a movie. It was like, ‘Wow, my brain is so wired.’ So that’s sort of what I began from.

You and others said you went to college to complete one of the most popular parts of the movie, the one that was supposed to take them to Tokyo. What were some of those experiences

Well, I went to college to complete The Man From the North Gate, the other part of the first part and was in a lot of pain with it. I went to China to be enrolled in the New York Academy of Dramatic Broadcasting. But then it was a really tough time to do that. Not just for movies of this sort but for the people who had these characters who were struggling to make it into TV shows (like Bones of the Grave). I was like, ‘I need to do that, but I gotta go back to college and get hired as writing agent that way.’ And so I went back to college and made it into a movie that I felt were worth
