They just really feel like they belong in your pocket, and have the same qualities as every other vintage piano I’ve ever played. They are very, very important, and I love their production technique, but also the way that they’re played.

If I could make a record for you, where would you recommend I recommend you

I would recommend using them as a starter, because they’re all very unique from the typical pianos out there to begin with. There’s really very little variation as far as the performance of the violins they make and a lot of people just won’t recognize them until their first time playing them. They’re so unique that many people don’t know where they came from, so I haven’t really gotten into it yet. Also, I just love the way they sound, the way they play.

I’ve mentioned earlier that you’ve had a few great violins, but I want to ask you another question how did you get those instruments

We started off with a VHS tape, of coursethere are hundreds of tapes of them, but we had one to play. I think that it would be good to have a separate set of violins, because that’s the way I had seen them play all my life.

What about those vintage violins Do you have their own recording of them as well

Yes, I have the tapes of some of the instruments they make. There’s a big set of original ones that I have, and others just from my own recordings. A few of them that I’ve had as well. I’m sure you’ve noticed that they haven’t changed very much, actually.

What about those violins that you’ve played with other musicians before Did you ever ask them to change

I think those are all originals, and they’re all fantastic. Even though they’re not exactly the same, they are a true piece of work. They can have a lot of similarities to the violins that I’ve played with. They’re both extremely rare, but I hope they never do die like the ones who played them, because they’re all so unique.
